National Children's Mental Health Awareness Day -Thursday, May 8, 2008

National Children's Mental Health Awareness Day (Awareness Day) is a day for SAMHSA and the initiatives and communities it supports to promote positive youth development, resilience, recovery, and the transformation of mental health services delivery for children and youth with serious mental health needs and their families. Awareness Day raises awareness of effective programs for children's mental health needs, demonstrates how children's mental health initiatives promote positive youth development, recovery and resilience, and shows how children with mental health needs thrive in their communities.

Rhode Island Children's Mental Health Awareness Day

The State of Rhode Island proclaimed May 8th as Rhode Island's Children's Mental Health Awareness Day in May 2006. RIPEP continues to lead Rhode Island's Awareness Day activities.  This year the theme "Thriving in the Community-Promoting social, emotional health and well-being "will help raise awareness of children's mental health in partnership with students, families, early care settings, schools and communities.  This will include disseminating children's mental health awareness tool kits to participating early care settings and schools; holding a Children's Mental Health PEP Rallyat the Robert F.
