National Evaluation
The national CMHS evaluation is designed to address multiple, related dimensions of effectiveness of systems of care at the system level, practice level, and child and family outcome level. To examine the system of care approach, the national evaluation is designed to answer several overarching questions, including the following:
- To what extent does the system of care develop and improve over time?
- What type and amount of services do children and families receive, what service utilization patterns do they experience, and what are the costs of those services?
- What are the characteristics of children and families served by the system of care initiative?
- Do children served by the program experience improvement in clinical and functional outcomes? Is family life improved? Do the improvement endure over time?
- Was the program implemented and were services experienced as intended (i.e., to what extent do children and families experience service delivery in keeping with the system-of-care model)?
- To what extent do specific evidence-based treatments enhance positive outcomes for children and families participating in the systems of care?
